Senior Software Engineer – Machine Control | 32–40 hours | Eindhoven | €6,000 – €8,000
Do you want to do more than just develop software and also have a say in how the software behind complex machines is designed? Do you enjoy working at the intersection of software, hardware and automation? Then we have an interesting Senior Software Engineer – Machine Control position for you.
For a growing high-tech organisation in the Eindhoven region, we are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer – Machine Control. You will play an important role in further developing and professionalising the software environment for complex machines.
You will develop software yourself, while also looking at the bigger picture: architecture, integration, technical standards and the choices required to further develop the machines.
You will work closely with engineers from various technical disciplines and take significant responsibility for the software side of the machines.
Your responsibilities include:
designing and developing software for complex machines;
defining and further developing the software architecture;
introducing structure and technical standards within software engineering;
ensuring smooth integration between software, hardware and machine control;
collaborating with mechanical, electrical and systems engineers;
coordinating technical matters with external software and hardware partners;
evaluating and integrating external technical solutions;
supporting commissioning, troubleshooting and optimisation;
exploring new technologies and tools that could add value;
contributing to the further development of the software domain and the future team.
This is not a role where you only define the architecture and then step away from the technology. You will remain hands-on and dive into technical details whenever needed.
You have extensive experience developing software for complex machines, high-tech equipment or industrial automation. This means you understand not only software itself, but also what is required to make software work reliably with hardware and other technical systems. You work independently, take ownership of technical decisions and enjoy bringing structure to an environment that is still developing.
Ideally, you have:
extensive experience as a Senior, Lead or Principal Software Engineer within high-tech machine building, equipment or industrial automation;
experience defining software architectures for complex technical systems;
a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a comparable technical field;
experience with machine control, automation and software-hardware integration;
experience working on multidisciplinary machine development;
strong communication skills and the ability to discuss technical topics with both internal specialists and external partners;
a good command of the English language.
Experience with areas such as motion control, robotics, PLC technology, embedded systems, machine vision or industrial communication protocols is an advantage, but you do not need to be a specialist in all of them.
A salary between €6,000 and €8,000 gross per month, depending on your knowledge and experience.
A position of 32 to 40 hours per week.
Significant technical responsibility and influence on the further development of the software domain.
An electric company car.
A pension scheme where the employer pays two-thirds of the contribution.
25 annual leave days plus 3 predetermined additional days off.
The option to work from home for up to two days per week.
Flexible working hours.
A laptop and phone for business use.
Opportunities for technical development and training.
An open and informal working environment with short communication lines.
Regular team lunches and team activities.
Because you will not simply be building the next feature within an environment where everything has already been defined. You will have real influence on how the software within the machines is structured and how this technical domain develops over the coming years. The role combines hands-on software development with architecture and machine integration. This makes it especially interesting for an experienced Software Engineer who wants to remain technically involved while also having greater influence on the overall technical direction.
Are you an experienced Software Engineer who enjoys building both software and the technical structure behind it? Send your CV to eindhoven@spiritsupport.nl or call us at 085-4012621. We would be happy to tell you more about this position.
